Found, Software
Since my brother introduced me to Found Magazine several years ago, watching the gutter and sidewalk for interesting things has become a hobby of mine. Unfortunately I was never able to find a good website on which to post the things I found. Found Magazine has an online section called “Find of the Day” but it only allows tiny images, and the wait to get your finds posted is interminable. Fed up, I designed, coded and published my own solution to this internet shortcoming. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: GutterGold.com. Feel free to peruse, rate and comment upon my finds, subscribe to the RSS feed, or post some of your own finds. Also: tell your friends!

For a long time the hill on the south side of the City College had a collection of boards on it that were arranged to spell “LOVE IS THE ANSWER.” more recently, vandals/artists have started rearranging those boards to spell different things. Almost every time I walk from Chelsea‘s house to the bus, it has changed. For a while I thought it would make a cool art project to photgraph all the different things it says, but I have no camera. Today I had a great idea: I could tweet them! So from now on, you can find out what the hill is currently saying here: https://twitter.com/sfcchill (updated every time I pass it).

www.foundmagazine.com, the website of the Found Magazine (hard to believe I know) has a “Find of the Day” feature. Quite a while ago, I submitted several of my finds for consideration. As of now, four of them have been chosen. They are not my most interesting finds, but the large community which reads these finds, have left numerous comments.

I don’t remember exactly where this came from, but I have a vague recollection of someone (other then myself) finding it at a beach, and giving it to me. Possibly when I was at OperaWorks. If anyone remembers, let me know. [edit] Chelsea reminded me that she found it in the water on the beach when we were in Aruba last year[/edit]
This is an intense love letter to Alfonso. From the letter: “still, the fire hasn’t burnt out yet for us Baby, just keep holding on to me Alfonso”

My all-time favorite finds are these three, which I found here on Arguello. They were folded into paper airplanes.
The following links are most likely “Not Safe For Work”.

When walking down Market Street on my way to visit Chelsea at work, I found this taped to the side of a newspaper vending box. Quotes: “There will be no more possible options of prostitution…” and “The Sex Bumpmobile ‘Last Option’ on Girls Lives was shut down by me weeks ago”.
Full transcription after the jump.

My friend Ben found this, and because he knows I collect these things, he gave it to me. It is a detailed drawing of what Socrates’ Myspace page would look like. Highlights: He is friends with the SF Giants. He has 583 friends, his web page is http://www.socratesrules.com. The person he would most like to meet is God. As always, click to enlarge image.

Found, Music
As some of you may know, I collect items that I find on the ground. Over the last few weeks, within a two block radius of my apartment, I have found three identical copies of this document. Does anybody know what the “Henry system of music transcription” is? Or how it reduces the need for page turns? Or why someone has been pamphlet-bombing my neighborhood with propaganda against it?
